“The Government” is an institution consisting of a president, 535 members of a congress and 9 “supreme court justices.” Those 545 people who make up this institution do not defend the nation, build roads, provide education, keep you safe, or any of the other myths. The other 320 million people do all that. The same people who would do it if those 545 didn't exist. “The Government” doesn't do shit. This unquestionable belief in all the things “The Government” does is a religious belief for which there is absolutely no evidence. The people do everything! They have to, who else is going to do it? All “The Government” does is make what they do more expensive, more difficult, more dangerous, and they take the product of their work. “The Government” wages wars, sends those people to die while sitting comfortably at home. Those wars create poverty, famine, and suffering.
Regardless what you call it, if man creates a “system” of governance and laws then it's already unjust, immoral, and economically destructive. No individual or even group of individuals can “engineer” how society should behave and live. It has always—and will always—result in the “engineers” having men with guns—the law enforcers—enforcing their will. Regardless of how smart people are, constitutions and their “laws” are just words on a piece of paper. Those words have no authority and certainly no power to constrain the actions of wicked men. The romantic idea of an American republic was doomed from the start.
The truth that nobody wants to face is that if we as a society cannot live peacefully and productively with one another, then we are the problem and no amount of government or a constitution or “laws” or nationalism will make us better people. Rinse and repeat.
