The following is a reaction to an article by Don Cooper about a wounded warrior that helped change Colin Powell's flat tire.
Those who sacrificed themselves for the imperial conquests of the state have to preserve the belief that what they did was honorable. It wasn't, it was international terrorism writ large. Anyone with an IQ north of 80 and some common sense knows this.
It's that belief system that allows them to look at their deformities and not spiral into anxiety, anger and depression requiring therapy and a cocktail of drugs just to get out of bed in the morning like so many veterans need.
It's no different than the denial of the death of a loved one. Their existence depends on continuing to believe the lies so they must be constantly applauded and justified. Every time they are told "thank you for your service" their conscience is temporarily relieved of the guilt for what they did and not only excuses the fact that they only have one leg but they feel privileged to have been able to make the sacrifice in the "service of their country!" If only they could have given them both. How proud would they have been then? That's brainwashing 101.
But this belief system is like a drug and must constantly be fed. That's why they do things like befriending those that sent them into harms way when no threat existed in the first place It was to enrich the military-industrial complex.
To admit the politicians are responsible for the devastating effects it has had on their lives would be devastating to their psyche which leads to 20 veteran suicides every day.
It's a sad testimony to humanity when such needless human sacrifice is honored and political criminals applauded. When the elephant in the room is conscientiously ignored for the health of the state.
Stockholm Syndrome.
